About the Art Gallery of Northumberland
The Art Gallery of Northumberland (AGN) is the largest public art gallery in Northumberland County. Our mandate is to promote and provide access to art and related programs as a community gallery for the enjoyment and education of the people of Northumberland County. We present intellectually stimulating exhibitions and programming, as well as maintain a permanent collection of visual arts. The Opportunity
The AGN has created a short-term contract (12 weeks) employment opportunity within its Communications Department for a Tourism Information Officer position. The Tourism Information Officer is entrusted with effective customer service and cheerful reception at the gallery, as well as, facility appearances and cleanliness. The Tourism Information Officer accurately performs: point of sales, clerical duties, and as a tour guide disseminates information in person and online to promote exhibitions, event, programs and services offered at the AGN. The Tourism Information Officer is a professional, warm, friendly and informative personality that enhances the visitor experiences.
Qualifications

To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:
• Delivering a welcoming and informative reception to visitors;
• Maintaining an enthusiastic, positive and professional attitude;
• Promoting exhibitions, programs and services to visitors;
• Managing point of sales: submission fees, memberships, rental fees etc.;
• Maintaining gallery appearances, including facility cleaning, sweeping, dusting, emptying trash etc.;
• Assisting in the promotion of gallery programs using social media platforms and other sources;
• Providing clerical duties such as answering telephone, emails, database entry, filing, record keeping and other office related duties;
• Assisting with the day-to-day operations;
• Displaying productive and accurate workmanship.

Skills and Abilities
• Exceptional communications skills;
• Deep familiarity with word processing software; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, good judgment;
• Able to work both individually and as part of a team;
• Capacity to respond in a timely manner to inquires with follow-up communications and materials;
• Familiarity with art museums and non-profit organizations;
• Ability to meet deadlines and to work under pressure.

Other Duties as Required.
Additional Information:
Start Date: June 2, 2025
End Date: August 23, 2025
Compensation: $18.05/hour
Flexible Work Hours including some Saturdays.

A student may be eligible for employment if they:
• are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible);
• are legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number);
• are between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and
• are a high school, college, CEGEP or university student.
Note: Priority will be given to students who have not previously participated in the YCWHO employment program.
