Who We Are
What Sets Us Apart
One of the main functions of the Art Gallery of Northumberland and one to which we are deeply committed, is to be available and accessible as an education resource for the public.
This includes public lectures, classes, curriculum support documents and material for public schools, in class presentations and school visits.
Our Team
The Art Gallery of Northumberland employs full-time, part-time and volunteer staff. These individuals have a passion for the arts and a great commitment towards building cultural identity within Northumberland County.
Where Art, Community, and Creativity Connect
The Art Gallery of Northumberland (AGN) is a vibrant cultural hub dedicated to celebrating creativity, community, and connection through the visual arts. Located in the heart of Cobourg, the AGN presents a dynamic range of exhibitions featuring regional, national, and emerging artists, alongside works from its growing permanent collection.
Committed to accessibility and engagement, the AGN offers educational programs, workshops, and events designed to inspire audiences of all ages and backgrounds. As both a gallery and a gathering place, it plays an important role in enriching the cultural life of Northumberland County. Whether you are visiting for an exhibition, attending a program, or exploring the space, the AGN invites you to experience art in meaningful and memorable ways.

Our Mandate
The mandate of the Art Gallery of Northumberland is to promote and provide access to art and related programs as a community gallery for the enjoyment and education of the people of Northumberland County.
We exist to serve all of Northumberland County as a public gallery. We present intellectually stimulating exhibitions and programming, as well as maintain a permanent collection of visual arts. Along with exhibitions we fulfill our mandate through educational activities which encourage active dialogue between the Gallery audience and the visual arts; including lectures, films, workshops, artist talks and tours.
Student educational programs are provided both in the Gallery and in the classroom. Special programs for secondary school students have been developed in collaboration with community schools and teachers.
