Previously on Our Walls
Explore exhibitions previously on view at the Art Gallery of Northumberland.
Our past exhibitions tell the story of where we’ve been and the ideas we’ve explored along the way, from bold, thought-provoking installations to community-inspired showcases,
Each exhibition reflects a moment in time and the voices that shaped it. Together, they form a living archive—one that celebrates creativity, sparks reflection, and continues to inform the work we present today.
Overskate

Morus Hummel
Working in mixed media, Hummel layers energetic lines and textured surfaces to create a scene that feels both spontaneous and deliberate.
January 10-April 25, 2026.
The work’s title hints at motion and imbalance, suggesting a moment caught between action and misstep-an everyday drama rendered with humour and humanity.
Sculpture Gallery
Hummel, known for his expressive drawings, paintings, and prints, consistently explored gesture as a way of understanding character. In Overskate, he transforms a simple movement into an imaginative narrative, revealing his instinct for turning the ordinary into something quietly theatrical. The result is a work that captures Hummel’s distinct blend of wit, warmth, and keen observational insight.
